About the healing of grounding...
During our time together, will explore how our relationship to the ground lays a perceptual foundation for trusting ourselves in all relationships and to restore the perception of accepting support from the ground is, to some degree, a restoration of innocence.
I invite you to consider something fundamental—support.
Like any structure, our bodies need support to function and thrive. But unlike a building with a fixed foundation, human support is dynamic. We are constantly negotiating with gravity, moment by moment, whether we’re aware of it or not. Support, for us, is not something we stand on—it’s something we feel.
And feeling supported is relational. It depends on our ability to perceive contact—to sense our body resting into the ground, a chair, or even another person. Yet in the momentum of daily life, we often lose this felt sense. We hover just above our seats, bracing for what’s next, or we collapse under the weight of it all. In both states, we miss the quietreassurance that the ground is still here—steady, available, and trustworthy.
This relationship with the ground began before we were even born. In the womb, and later in the arms of a caregiver, we were held. That early experience of support—of being met and received—is where our sense of safety begins. But for many of us, that sense has been interrupted. Life brings inevitable ruptures, and sometimes deep breaches in trust.
More about this event...
The good news is: our bodies can learn again. Through gentle awareness and practice, we can rebuild our perception of support. We can reconnect to the ground beneath us—not just physically, but emotionally and energetically. And from this foundation, we can begin to restore trust—not only in our bodies, but in our relationships, and in life itself.
This class is an invitation to remember and reclaim that support. To explore how your body receives the ground. To soften into the possibility that you don’t have to hold everything alone...join us on June 7th and we will begin grounding.
Wear comfortable loose clothes, socks are recommended if you tend to get cold.
In this class, we’ll focus on the practice of interoception—the ability to sense and feel what’s happening inside your body. This inner awareness helps you notice when subtle tension around your joints begins to release, when energy flows through you, or when a sense of calm or vitality arises. It’s the sense that brings you into contact with your own aliveness—through pulsation, warmth, fluid movement, and a deep feeling of well-being.
Interoception also helps you feel the grounding weight of your bones during movement and rest. It allows you to sense fleeting emotional tones that may arise in different postures or gestures. Yet, despite its importance, this sense is often overlooked or misunderstood in our culture.
In our fast-moving world, we’re taught to ignore, override, or numb our internal sensations—often to avoid discomfort. We rarely pause to listen inward. But your body is always communicating, offering guidance through sensation.
Science is beginning to reflect what somatic traditions have long known: interoception plays a key role in mental health, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. Research has shown that developing this inner sense can support the immune system, help manage chronic pain, and build resilience in the face of stress. It's also deeply connected to contemplative practices like mindfulness and meditation.
This class offers you a chance to explore these connections firsthand. Through direct experience, you’ll begin to reclaim your capacity to feel, listen, and respond to the messages within. You’ll be engaging in your own embodied research—gently, curiously, and with care.

Maui Access to Mindful Movement (MAMM) seeks to spread awareness of, and access to, the physical, mental, emotional and social benefits of group practices such as martial arts, yoga, cultural movement, dance, and nature immersion. MAMM’s mission is to show more Maui residents how mindful movement isn't just physical fitness; it's a catalyst for unlocking one’s potential through focus, awareness, and self-regulation. It is an opportunity for social interaction in an environment of discipline, shared principles and common goals. These community activities can be deeply therapeutic. They bring us out of isolation and give us safe space to move together. When we move with intention, breathe in rhythm, and grow together, something more than physical well being happens – fear transforms into courage, isolation into belonging, and trauma into resilience. Blending physical activity with mental presence, helps us calm compulsiveness and mindfully channel our energy; developing healthier social interactions and family dynamics. MAMM seeks to bring mindful movement to more Maui families.
