About this Event...
Kirtan is a devotional singing practice that originated in the Indian subcontinent. The word "kirtan" comes from the Sanskrit word kīrtana, which means "to praise or glorify". Kirtan events bring people together to sing mantra glorifying the blessings of life and the principles that bring out the best in us. Kirtan is cleansing to the mind, helping us release old resentments and move naturally into the heart energies of peace, forgiveness, kindness and unity. So, breathe through your shyness, and come out and sing with us!
Immerse yourself in the transformative power of communal chanting. Originating from ancient India, Kirtan is a devotional practice where sacred Sanskrit mantras are set to music, creating a unique blend of meditation, music, and community connection.
In this practice, a leader sings sacred mantras and melodies, inviting participants to respond in kind. The rhythm of the chants creates a meditative state that transcends intellectual understanding, allowing participants to experience a direct heart connection with the divine. As the rhythms build and voices unite, many describe feeling deep connection, joy, and peace.

Maui Access to Mindful Movement (MAMM) seeks to spread awareness of, and access to, the physical, mental, emotional and social benefits of group practices such as martial arts, yoga, cultural movement, dance, and nature immersion. MAMM’s mission is to show more Maui residents how mindful movement isn't just physical fitness; it's a catalyst for unlocking one’s potential through focus, awareness, and self-regulation. It is an opportunity for social interaction in an environment of discipline, shared principles and common goals. These community activities can be deeply therapeutic. They bring us out of isolation and give us safe space to move together. When we move with intention, breathe in rhythm, and grow together, something more than physical well being happens – fear transforms into courage, isolation into belonging, and trauma into resilience. Blending physical activity with mental presence, helps us calm compulsiveness and mindfully channel our energy; developing healthier social interactions and family dynamics. MAMM seeks to bring mindful movement to more Maui families.
