A message from Coach Gabe

As a parent, I understand how essential it is that parents have time to relax and come home to themselves. We are so much kinder, creative, and effective parents when we make time for self care. Often that means time away from being care takers. That is why I am offering these Friday Night Fun events. In this win-win evening we reach out to take care of families by giving keiki a frisky night of playing with peers while you enjoy a few precious hours of relaxation. We are blessed to have these events sponsored by Maui Access to Mindful Movement and the Maui Strong Fund. These organizations truly care about the health and happiness of Maui families and want to elevate the well being of our island community.

A message from River

I'm River, the Mele’aina School Director and I am blessed to lead young ones on their journey of discovery. I received my B.A. in Liberal Studies at Western Washington University. Soon after, I attended Antioch New England Grad School and received my Masters in Education and Waldorf Certification in 2003.

After teaching for years at the Haleakalā Waldorf School, I opened the Mele’aina School at Pono Grown Farm Center in 2017. It is my delight to create space for little ones to explore, play, connect and grow in a natural environment.

I love to create joyous traditions with children and families, and I also enjoy simple gifts such as reading, walking my dog, and exploring nature with friends and family.

More about Maui Access to Mindful Movement

Maui Access to Mindful Movement (MAMM) seeks to spread awareness of, and access to, the physical, mental, emotional and social benefits of group practices such as martial arts, yoga, cultural movement, dance, and nature immersion.  MAMM’s mission is to show more Maui residents how mindful movement isn't just physical fitness; it's a catalyst for unlocking one’s potential through focus, awareness, and self-regulation. It is an opportunity for social interaction in an environment of discipline, shared principles and common goals. These community activities can be deeply therapeutic.  They bring us out of isolation and give us safe space to move together. When we move with intention, breathe in rhythm, and grow together, something more than physical well being happens – fear transforms into courage, isolation into belonging, and trauma into resilience.   Blending physical activity with mental presence, helps us calm compulsiveness and mindfully channel our energy; developing healthier social interactions and family dynamics. MAMM seeks to bring mindful movement to more Maui families.
